The Oklahoma Octopus

The earth is full of unusual, sub-aquatic species, but few more strange (or frightening, than fresh octopus phenomenon).

May be this interesting branch of the most interesting - and often life-threatening - sub-species may be encountered the most incredible places in the world ... Oklahoma. Although there are several watering holes has been working with this mysterious connection, there are three, in particular, which has become synonymous with those wild beasts: Thunderbird Lake, Lake Oolagah, Lake and Tenkiller water body.

The difference is that the Deputy freshwater devil Lusca (a tentacle ridden, sharks and other animals, is said to fill in the Bahamas blue hole), this animal did not take in some tropical paradise to live, but in dry plains in the south-central United States . By the region's Native American population, the terrible dragon (who is more than beasts of the parasite), this animal has been identified as the horse is about the size of the little, beadlike eyes, multi-antenna, and leatherlike, reddish-brown skin. This is a verbal description, which - some detectives had discovered - not completely different, the African members.

Of these in your (and its tentacles are obviously confronted with a tendency to use the attack) has led many researchers to associate with animals, allegedly in the depths of Devils Lake Wisconsin wandering beast.

General Stanley McChrystal demands 40,000 more troops for Afghanistan

NATO forces in Afghanistan, U.S. military commanders have requested 40,000 more troops, according to the report in Washington.

Russia billionaire buying nets

Russia’s richest man, Mikhail Prokhorov, has made a takeover bid for the New Jersey Nets, the tycoon confirmed on his blog on Tuesday.
Buying the nets is only ‘phase 1’ in Prokhorov’s plot to conquer the world through NBA dominance. But according to himself (as posted on his blog), the main reason he wish to host Nets is that he want to bring in the advanced organization system of basketball into Russia, and at the same, he is optimistic of the commercial value of this investment. Among his requirements, there are: 1. own shares of the new stadium and the Atlantic terminal project; 2. hold control interest of nets; 3. obtain the most advanced basketball training technique and use them in Russia. 4. Send the best basketball players, coaches and managers to train in nets.
It’s not immediately clear how much this is going to help the Nets’ move to Brooklyn, which has been delayed by legal disputes, issues with financing and problems with the local community. While all the nets fans are exciting about this, because the movement may lead nets to be the richest club in the league.
Prokhorov is flush with cash because he sold his assets prior to the global financial meltdown. His interest in the Nets is a testimony to just how far the American economy has declined.

Calculators project Chris Paul as 2010 MVP

Basketball-Reference released their Win Shares-based projections on Monday, and after blacking out from trying to comprehend all the numbers, the calculators see Hornets point guard Chris Paul as a favorite for the MVP award.
Real GM explains the wins shares calculation as an “attempt to predict how many individual wins each NBA player will be almost single-handedly responsible for the coming season.”
In more detail, Andre’ snellings at NBA.com compares a Win Share to baseball’s VORP stat: “it relies on the assumption that efficiency is the key to wins, looks at a player’s offensive efficiency compared to the league average, a player’s defensive efficiency compared to the league average, corrects foe minutes played…” adds them together and boom –“that estimates how many wins the player was worth.”
According to the B-R numbers, the Hornets will win 46.6 games this season, with Paul accounting for a league best 14.0 of those victories. Reigning MVP LeBron James comes in second with a 13.8 WS and Dwight Howard clocked in third with a 11.6 WS.
However, the estimation doesn’t guarantee CP3 a 2010 MVP trophy. He led the league in WS in 07-8 and didn’t win squat. Last year he was in WS and he didn’t even garner Top 3 MVP votes.
Anyway, the MVP voters know little about Win Shares.

Joseph Dado ---Penn state student dead

The Joseph Dado missing case ended up Joseph drunk and fell 15 feet and had a severe injury on his head which led to his dead.
Here’s the matter: Joseph is a freshmen of Penn State. Before his missing he was seen at a Fiji party on Sunday, but no one has seen or heard from him since he left Fiji. And his dead was reported on Monday afternoon.
The case closed as an accident, while some people just suspect it. They are asking the police to look into the case. The suspect point is, according to the insider, the building. They pointed out that Deike and Steidle is a locked building, and you can’t get in it on the reported time. So maybe there was a robbery homicide. Well, who knows.
Wish the decedent peace to his soul.

Review of Genova

When a new Michael Winterbottom film comes out it is always interesting to see where exactly he is going to go with it. Certainly Winterbottom has one of the most diverse C.V.'s in the cinema with things ranging as far as Tristram Shandy to Welcome to Sarajevo to 24 Hour Party People, to Code 46. With Genova, he explores the rhythms, sites, beauty and danger of the large Italian city from three perspectives, a young girl, a teenager and a middle-aged university professor. All three of these people are in the same family, one recently stricken with the loss of the mother/wife. Naturally lit and laced with some stomach clenching intense moments, the film casually recalls Nicholas Roeg's Don't Look Now filtered though aspects of intimate Winterbottom's own urban wanderings of A Mighty Heart, where he burrowed into strange corners of Karachi. The film gives us a curious mixture of storytelling types. It is graceful drama on the grieving process merged, both smoothly and meticulously, with an intimate documentary style and a novel execution of maximum suspense. Sensitive parents beware, while Genova is attractively interspersed with honesty, the film is really quite nerve wracking.

Tiffany jewelry and its replicas

On September 18, 1837, Charles Lewis Tiffany and John B. Young establish Tiffany and Young, a stationary and fancy goods emporium at 259 Broadway in New York city. Every article is marked with a non-negotiable selling price, a revolutionary policy that makes headlines. The first day’s sale total $4.98.
Soon after tiffany & co was founded in 1837, a distinctive shade of blue was chosen to symbolize the company’s renowned reputation for quality and craftsmanship. The color was adopted for use on tiffany & co. boxes.
Today, tiffany owns its stores all over the world. Tiffany jewelry is regarded as a symbol of fashion and beauty. Everyone, no matter he can afford it or not, wants to have it. And this is why people love jewelry replicas. That you can spend limited money to own a piece of designer jewelry.

Spain gets the Euro basket title

Pau Gasol scored 18 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead the world champion Spain to an 85-63 victory over Serbia in the first of European basketball championship on Sunday. The victory gives Spain its first European title after six runner-ups finished, including a one-point loss two year ago a Russia in front of its home crowd.
The Spaniards dominated from start to finish on both ends of the court, playing pressure man-to-man defense and getting out on the break for easy baskets to jump to a 15-point first-quarter lead.
Serbia never recovered from the early burst by Spain.
Gasol dominated in the paint on both ends of the court, scoring down low and blocking three shots on his way to winning the tournament MVP honors.
Guard Rudy Fernandez chipped in with 13 points for Spain, while Uros Tripkovic led Serbia with 15 points.
Earlier Sunday, Greece slipped past Slovenia 57-56 to win the bronze medal.
In a hard-nosed defensive struggle, Greece used a 14-0 run in the first half to open a 10-point gap and hung on in the closing seconds to win the bronze two years after finishing fourth at the tournament.
“Today the team was very focus,” Greece forward Antonios Fotsis said. “Everybody wanted to play well and at least win the bronze medal. This is a very big success for us.”
Slovenia closed the Greek lead to just one point in the fourth quarter on a free throw from center Erazem Lorbek, but could never pull even despite a handful on chances.
Leading 57-56 with 4.6 seconds to play, Greece guard Vasileios Spanoulis missed two free throws, opening the door one final time for Slovenia. Bostjan Nachbar grabbed the rebound off Spanoulis’ second miss but couldn’t hit a desperation three at the buzzer.

Paula Abdul dress as Ellen DeGeneres on show

Ellen DeGeneres move in to Paula Abdul’s job, and maybe Paula just told to herself why can’t her do that too. OK, this is a joke.
Last week, when asked about her new job in American Idol, Ellen said, "I hope Paula is OK with it," "I don't want anybody to think that I took Paula's job away."
And Abdul doesn’t seem to be worried about her unemployment, soon after that replacement reported, an employment counselor sends her out for the Divas hosting gig. This is where she is now.
While hosting VH1’s Divas Live on Thursday, Abdul poked a little fun at Ellen. She boogied down the aisle of the Brooklyn Academy of Music dressed as Ellen. During a segment on the show, Abdul sported a blonde wig along with a dark suit and sneakers (in Ellen’s typical fashion) and joked, “Why are you all staring at me? Can’t a girl try out for a new job?”
And at the same time, Abdul wished Ellen ‘best of luck’ on ‘American Idol’. “‘American Idol’ is a fantastic show that offers an invaluable platform to young talent,” Abdul said in a statement Thursday (September 10). “Ellen DeGeneres is wildly funny and talented in her own right. I wish her and the show only the best of luck.”
Of course, on the show Paula was joking in good fun, at the last she stated, “All kidding aside, [I have] nothing but love for Ellen, and I wish you the best of luck and congratulations on your new gig.” And Offered a helping hand to the fledgling “Idol” judge, Abdul added, “And call me! You gotta call me if you have any Simon problems, ‘cause you know, I know him best.”

Howard gets another one year deal

Juwan Howard, one of Michigan’s Fab Five in 1991-92, has anther one year NBA contract. Howard has signed on with the Portland Trail Blazers. He played last season in both Denver and Charlotte. Howard, 36, has averaged 14.9 points and 6.6 rebounds in 1,043 games. He has appeared in the playoffs four times, averaging 9.8 points, 5.7 rebounds and 1.2 assists. He played two seasons at Michigan alongside Chris Webber, Jalen Rose, Limmie King and Ray Jackson. Howard is a 15-year veteran and certainly his enhanced experience could help the young team to grow up faster.
"Juwan Howard will add a wealth of experience and veteran savvy to our young, talented roster," Blazers general manager Kevin Pritchard said in a statement. "We look forward to Juwan's contributions on the court and in the locker room."
The 6-foot-9 power forward was the 14th player added to the Blazers roster in advance of fall camp. The Blazers have looked this offseason at a number of big forwards, including Stromile Swift and Greg Ostertag, before going with Howard.

The Ron Clark story

Maybe Newton’s missing fourth law of motion states that whenever an offbeat teacher’s antics turn on a classroom of doe-eyed troublemaker to the magic of learning, a principal hailing from the Judge Judy School of No-Nonsense must shake his head in the background at said inspirational teacher, only speaking up to reprimand the naïve Everysaint for “getting these kids’ hopes up.” How else to explain the shopworn storytelling cog found everywhere from “dead poets society” to “Coach Carter” to “The Ron Clark Story,” a Mathew Perry telepic premiering August 13 on TNT? Is there no principal in the world who’s ever cheered on such efforts? Or even more pressing, don’t these principals ever feel bad for berating such hopeful do-gooding?
Likewise, it’s difficult to make a case against “The Ron Clark Story,” a familiar chestnut of a story so well-meaning and straightforward and even at times spirited, only an unsmiling authority figure could find fault.
Mathew Perry plays the titular character, who after four years of teaching at a clean, suburban elementary school, up and leaves to try his hand at a school in east Harlem, where lots of graffiti and lots of hip-hop are order of the day. What’s he thinking here? The movie alludes to his fear of permanence and maybe a need for adventure, but we’re left mostly to fill in the blanks. Indeed, the biggest kudos here goes to Perry himself, for pulling off the something-from-nothing feat of turning a character the script cruelly cheats out of any complexity into an honest-to-TNT-goodness sung hero.
Perry’s Ron Clark is not someone who brings Whoopi Goldberg’s sass from “Sister Act 2”, Jack Blake’s crass from “school of Rock,” or Antonio Banderas’s class from “Take the lead” to our problem classroom. As he checks off the list of ICAs – performing a rap about U.S. presidents, downing chocolate milk every fifteen seconds during a grammar lecture, double-dutching with the kids, so on – Perry often looks unsure, but willing. He’s playing a version of Chandler Bing, and quite a welcome, down-to-earth one.
In fact, there’s nothing savior-mystical at all about this stranger come to town, and halfway through the movie, a subtly neat realization occurs: the guy’s a square! He’s not someone secretly subversive enough to pump something so idealistic and corny like Ron Clark’s Rules into a disaffected urban classroom. This while-bread golden boy really means it, and – here’s the kicker – has no reason to believe the kids would do anything but play along. Perhaps a wiser screenwriter might have played more with such genuine naivete.
While Perry and his kiddie co-stars work tirelessly to make their characters feel based on true people, the story itself succeeds with surprising deft. The triumphs are small enough to feel realistic, and thus rewarding. Even the standard-issue Big Competition at the movie’s climax is not a statewide sing-and-dance affair, but merely a regional end-of-the-year exam. And the romance subplot involving Clark and an aspiring actress does what it can to shed more light on what little character we’re allowed to witness.
“The Ron Clark Story” does not strive to be groundbreaking, or even clever. It knows its material well, it knows we know its material well, and it responds by delivering such a modern American story template with genuine emotion and straightforward panache that its lack of character nuance becomes a minor quibble. This is a story that works precisely because it enters the room with no reason for anyone to take it seriously and thus wins big. It pulls a Ron Clark itself: who on earth could have figured that something so well-intentioned but unoriginal could actually, truly inspire?

Obama calls Kanye a ‘jackass’

US President Barack Obama has been caught on tape calling Kanye west a “jackass” for hijacking Taylor Swift’s acceptance speech during the Video Music Awards.
Monday night, while reporting on remarks by President Obama for a CNBC interview, Terry Moran posted to his Twitter feed: Pres. Obama just called Kanye West a ‘jackass’ for his outburst at VMAS when Taylor Swift won. Now that’s presidential. The impulsive tweet went out to over a million followers and was rapidly retweeted across the net.
The post was deleted only a short time later and an ABC spokesperson later explained to Politico.com that the Kanye West jackass remark was not supposed to be repeated.
ABC has apologized to the white house and CNBC for letting Obama’s opinion of Kanye West leak to the public and says it is “taking steps to ensure that it will not happen again.” We’re thinking Mr. Moran won’t be sitting in on anymore presidential interviews for a while.
Obama isn’t the first celebrity to bash Kanye over the Taylor Swift VAMs insult, but nobody much care if Kelly Clarkson thinks Kanye is a “piece of shit”. The President, on the other hand.
Should the POTUS be allowed to express his opinion, even if crass, about mundane matters like an awards show publicity stunt? Or is he supposed to keep these kinds of thoughts inside his head so he doesn’t muck up his presidential image? What do you think?
Meanwhile, Kanye West and Taylor Swift both took to television shows this week to hash their feelings over the VMAs incident. While West once again apologized for his behavior on the Jay Leno Show, Taylor Swift told the ladies of the view that West hasn’t reached out to apologize directly to her yet.

Michael Jordan speech in Hall of Fame

The Naismith Memorial Hall of Fame Enshrinement Ceremony is an annual event, but it has never had the buzz that this year’s ceremony did. The enshrinement of Michael Jordan brought more people, more attention and more buzz than Springfield or the Hall of Fame has ever seen. A night which usually doesn’t see much fanfare beyond the world of basketball turns into something more like Academy awards.
That should be no surprise, because Jordan’s presence has had that effect since his day in Chapel Hill. Whether or not you agree that Jordan was the greatest player in history, you can’t deny that there has never been a player who has influenced more aspiring players around the world than he has.
On the court, he was the ultimate combination of talent and competitiveness, the ultimate showman and the ultimate winner. Off the court, he was the ultimate spokesman and marketer of the game. To this day, Jordan’s highlights elicit an emotional response, and they drew oohs and ahs from the Symphony Hall crowd before he was introduced.
And now, two days later, Michael Jordan’s Hall of Fame speech is still the biggest topic in basketball. And for the most part, the reviews were not positive. Common accusations were that MJ was confrontational, bullying, pretty, ungrateful, and that he primarily used his stage to settle old scores. It’s obvious who amongst the critics have never played sports, or is so far removed from playing that they forget what it’s like to competitive. True, Mike didn’t exhibit anything near the vulnerability of his speech.

Allen Iverson

Iverson got a bad rap for what happened in Detroit. Remember, A.I. came into ‘08-09 as the NBA’s third-leading scorer, having averaged 26.4 ppg the season before with Denver. And he did that while shooting 19.0 field goals per game, well below his typical Sixers season where he’d fire up 23-27 shots a night to get his 30 points. In his second-to-last game with Denver, Iverson dropped 25 points on the Clippers on 19 shots. So it’s not like he lost his game on the flight from Denver to Detroit. As he showed throughout his Pistons tenure, he can still get it done: 30 points vs. Sacramento in November, 38 vs. Utah in December, 31 vs. San Antonio in February, plus six other games of 25-plus points. Contrary to what you might’ve heard, Allen Iverson wasn’t bad last year. He just landed in a terrible situation where certain teammates weren’t willing to accept his arrival, his coach didn’t know what to do with him, he had some injuries, and he just didn’t mix with his new team.
While going to the Grizzlies is admittedly a case of Iverson running out of options and simply taking what he can get, the signing does in a way represent a first step in Iverson proving he’s not an insufferable diva. How many 34-year-old former MVPs and future Hall of Famers would accept a $17 million pay cut to play for one of the worst teams in the League? (Not to mention a team on which he may be asked to come off the bench?) At this age and stage of their careers, most players like Iverson either demand more money than they’re worth, or only want to play for a contender. They don’t settle for less on both fronts. Iverson didn’t say one word about “I need to play for a ring.” He didn’t refuse to come off the bench. He didn’t hold out to demand a lifetime appreciation contract.
Both sides win here, but Iverson ultimately has more to gain, and more to lose. The Grizzlies were headed to the Lottery without A.I., and will most likely be in the Lottery again with him. Either way, they’ll make some money off the deal and get some mainstream exposure.
Iverson will either self-sabotage his career in Memphis, or he’ll change people’s opinions of him. If he does the latter, he’ll go into next summer as a 35-year-old free agent able to find a proper way to play out his last games. It could be in Philadelphia. It could be with a contender in L.A. or Boston or Cleveland. It could be with a random team like Houston or Dallas.
However it works out, next summer should be better than this summer. Iverson at least deserves that, but he’s got to earn it first.

The Girl Next Door

The Girl Next Door builds up enough good will during its successful first half that we’re willing to forgive some of the strange and disappointing convolutions the plot takes us through during the final 45 minutes. There are two primary reasons why it’s not hard to recommend this likable romantic comedy: director Luke Greenfield and his screenwriters have a genuine feel of what it’s like to be a high school outsider, and it’s been a long time since there has been as appealing a young couple as Emile Hirsch and Elisha Cuthbert. (He’s 18 and she’s 21, and they play characters who match their real-life ages.)
In tone and temperament, The Girl Next Door owes a greater debt to films like Risky Business than to the Animal House-inspired comedies that have grown in popularity over the last five years. The film is rated R but has a PG-13sensibility. Tone down some of the sexual content and cut out the more overt nudity, and the girl next door can easily play to a younger crowd. Unlike American Pie, it dose not relay upon bawdy antics and bodily fluids. In fact, while there are several intensely embarrassing moments for the main characters, there’s not a legitimate “gross out” incident to be found.
The protagonist is high school senior Matthew, a quiet, studious boy who has used his education thus far as a stepping stone to the college of his choice, Georgetown But, when it comes time to write down a memory for the year book, he realize he doesn’t have one. Instead of living, he has played it safe while at Westport High School, hanging out with his two bets friends, Eli and Klits. That everything changes when Danielle (Elisha Cuthbert) moves in next door. She is a blonde bombshell running away from a porn star and eager to start afresh.
One night, Matthew spies her undressing through her bedroom window. Transfixed, he forgets the first rule of voyeurism – turn out the light in your viewing space – and, as a result, he gets busted. Danielle takes him for a little ride in her car, and demands tit for tat
He saw her, now she gets to see him. So, in the middle of a suburban street, he strips down to nothing. Soon after, he’s following her around like a lovestruck puppy. For her part, she feels something fresh and appealing about his innocence. But trouble arrives when her past becomes her present. A porn producer ex-boyfriend by the name of Kelly (Timothy Olyphant) arrives to bring her back to the business and to teach Matthew a few lessons from the school of hard knocks.

Obama’s health care speech to the congress

After mentioning Mr. President’s speech to the children, I would like to talk something about his health care speech to the congress. It seems that American do care about President Obama’s movement, the speech had been a high trend on search engine.
Exactly at this month in 2003, a youthful Democratic president with a job-approval rating hovering around 50 percent stood before congress to make an impassioned plea for health care reform. As Bill Clinton mounted the rostrum and looked out over the House chamber, he discovered to his horror that a seven-month-old speech on the economy was whirling through the teleprompter instead of the health care text. For the next seven minutes, until the correct floppy disk was inserted into the teleprompter, Clinton confidently vamped before Congress and the nation as if all were going rhetorically exactly as planned.
When Barack Obama goes before Congress Wednesday night at 8:00 Eastern to make his own prime-time appeal for reform, he already knows that nothing – yes! Nothing – in the quest for landmark health care legislation goes exactly as planned. Gone is the gravity –defying popularity ratings that accompanied Obama’s inauguration. All but vanished are White House dreams of Republican cooperation, with Maine GOP moderate Sen. Olympia Snowe virtually Obama’s lasts across –the-aisle negotiating partner. And despite hefty Democratic majorities in both the House and the Senate, centrists in Obama’s party have balked at the president’s proposal to create a public health care plan to compete with private insurers.

Obama’s speech to kids

President Obama is doing a planned speech to all the kids at school, which are able to recieve it. Already this speech that hasn’t even been aired yet has recieved a lot of criticism from parents and teachers and news stations around the US. Why? No one knew what he’d say to America’s children and objected to it. People critical of his speech to kids this morning made quite the stink, accusing Obama of trying to indoctrinate school children with a socialist agenda.
The controversial speech released this Monday, and to so many people’s surprise, the speech is totally clean of any potential evil rhetoric. The speech is a great speech for the children to hear from their president. Even the most conservative American may considered it to be a good speech to the children.
In his speech, he “expect every great things of you”, and told the kids that "At the end of the day, we can have the most dedicated teachers, the most supportive parents, and the best schools in the world," Obama said. "And none of it will matter unless all of you fulfill your responsibilities." Of cause, the speech is so much more than this. It will be aired on school televisions and has been released for all that wondered, you can view it at: Obama’s speech to the kids
From the speech we can see that the only Mr. President is trying to do is to encourage the kids to staying in school and getting up with more education.

Nikki Catsouras car crash photos still on line

This is the matter:On Halloween 2006, 18-year-old Nikki Catsouras reportedly got into an argument with her father and he took away her car keys. She then took her father’s black Porsche 911 Carrera and while driving at speeds of up to 100 miles per hour, she lost control of the vehicle and smashed into a concrete tollbooth. She was killed instantly and then just a few days later, nine graphic Nikki Catsouras car crash photos were published all over the internet.
Two officers from the California Highway Patrol (CHP) had been accused of leaking the photographs on the internet. The Catsouras family has sued the CPH “for negligence, privacy invasion and infliction of emotional harm, among other charges,” but the charge was dismissed because there is no law related to the violation of the privacy rights of the dead.
Inspite of this, the Nikki Catsouras’ case may have a significant impact on the court proceedings related to Internet Privacy and defamation cases. However, one of the CHP employees who had leaked the photographs claimed that his real motive was genuine; he actually wanted to warn the young crowd about the consequences of reckless driving.
It is really disappointed how irresponsible the two CPH are. How could they regard this tragic matter as a joke? With a 18-year-old girl leaving, the parents must have gotten through a great sadness, and until now again and again the matter bring new pain to them.

However, the US Open tennis 2009 results finally knocked out one of the men’s top seeds yesterday, as Andy Roddick will not repeat his Wimbledon success, the US open results were still favorable to his rivals. As for the women, the US open results finally knocked out the embattled women’s top seed, and some other big names.
The US Open tennis 2009 results were historic going into Saturday, due to the perfection of the top 16 male seeds. Not only were they all in the third round, they had all barely lost a set in their first two matches. But the 32-0 winning streak ended when fifth seed Andy Roddick took on John Isner.
After Roddick put up such a fight at Wimbledon, the US Open was expected to continue Roddick’s newfound momentum, but he went down early at a grand slam again. Meanwhile, Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Andy Murray are still standing as expected.
The US Open tennis 2009 results are less perfect for the top seeds on the women's side. There have been more upset threats, but they were held back until recently. 17-year-old Melanie Oudin has become the biggest surprise at the US Open, as she defeated fourth-seed Elena Dementieva in round two, and handled Maria Sharapova in round three yesterday, 3-6, 6-4, 7-5.
