Comparison of Tim Alderson and Freddy Sanchez

Yesterday, a trade went on between the Giant and the Pirate, the latter got Giants minor-league pitcher Tim Alderson for its second baseman Freddy Sanchez. Fans of the Pirates may thank God for answering for their preys, compare to which, some Giants fans are just not so excited about this move. How these situations happen? Here comes a comparison between the two players.

First, the physical situations, eleven year older than Alderson (he’s 31 and Tim’s 20), Sanchez’s situation is not very ideal for Giants, and his left knee, although have been checked twice, it would affect Sanchez’s performance.

Second, the integration capabilities, now Tim Alderson is at his 20th and holding his own double-A, it is universally acknowledged that a player like Alderson is uncommon and data shows that he's 20 years old and pitching in double-A with exceptional command and control for his age. As for Sanchez, definitely he has his own advantage in his defense, he could plays a solid but unspectacular second base, which will help fill a season-long hole for the Giants. While, I am not very confident about his offense, would it really be better than the current second baseman Juan Uribe?

It’s widely approved that for a player like Sanchez, Alderson is a great return for the pirates. Sanchez would be a wonderful complementary player, but he definitely should not have cost an A-level pitching prospect.
So, it seems that fans of Giants slop over for something.
